Basic Life Support Training
What is Basic Life Support Training?
Basic Life Support (BLS) Training is a life-saving course that teaches individuals how to recognize and respond to medical emergencies, provide immediate care, and sustain life until professional medical help arrives. The training covers CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation), use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED), and first-aid techniques applicable in emergencies such as cardiac arrest, choking, and respiratory failure.
Why the need for BLSÂ Training?
BLS training is crucial because early intervention can significantly increase survival rates during emergencies. Knowing how to administer CPR, control bleeding, and stabilize a victim can mean the difference between life and death. In the Philippines, BLS training is an essential skill for healthcare workers, emergency responders, and even civilians, especially in workplaces, schools, and public spaces where medical emergencies may occur.
Who needs BLSÂ Training?
- Healthcare professionals (doctors, nurses, EMTs, paramedics)
- Workplace safety officers and first aid responders
Teachers, school personnel, and childcare providers - Lifeguards, security personnel, and law enforcement officers
- Community responders, volunteers, and concerned citizens
- Workers in high-risk industries (construction, manufacturing, offshore workers)
Objectives of BLS Training:
- Develop essential life-saving skills for responding to medical emergencies.
- Recognize and assess life-threatening conditions such as cardiac arrest, choking, and respiratory distress.
- Perform high-quality CPR and use an AED effectively.
