Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Training

What is Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Training?

Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Training is a specialized course that equips healthcare professionals with the knowledge and skills to manage cardiac emergencies, such as cardiac arrest, stroke, and other life-threatening conditions. ACLS goes beyond Basic Life Support (BLS) by integrating advanced airway management, pharmacology, ECG interpretation, and team-based resuscitation protocols to improve survival outcomes in critical medical situations.

Why Train in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)?

ACLS training is critical for healthcare professionals and emergency responders who manage cardiac arrest and cardiovascular emergencies. In the Philippines, where cardiovascular diseases remain one of the leading causes of death, ACLS training ensures that medical personnel can respond quickly and effectively to save lives. It aligns with international resuscitation guidelines and enhances the quality of emergency cardiac care in hospitals, clinics, and pre-hospital settings.

Who Needs Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Training?

  • Doctors, nurses, and emergency medical technicians (EMTs) handling emergency and critical care cases.
  • Healthcare professionals working in hospitals, clinics, and ambulances.
  • Medical personnel in high-risk workplaces, such as offshore facilities, industrial sites, and aviation.
  • First responders in emergency medical services (EMS).
  • Advanced healthcare providers seeking certification for clinical practice or specialization.

Objectives of ACLS Training:

  1. Enhance the ability to recognize and manage cardiac arrest, stroke, and other cardiovascular emergencies.
  2. Develop advanced skills in airway management, ECG interpretation, and emergency pharmacology.
  3. Improve competency in high-performance CPR and advanced resuscitation techniques.
  4. Train participants in team-based crisis management and effective communication in emergency scenarios.
  5. Ensure rapid assessment, treatment, and stabilization of critically ill patients following standard ACLS protocols.

Key Components of ACLS Training:

  • Advanced Airway Management – Techniques for securing and maintaining the airway.
  • High-Performance CPR and Team Resuscitation – Coordinated efforts for improving survival outcomes.
  • Cardiac Rhythm Interpretation – ECG recognition of life-threatening arrhythmias.
  • Emergency Pharmacology – Proper administration of drugs in cardiac arrest and stroke cases.
  • Acute Coronary Syndromes (ACS) and Stroke Management – Rapid assessment and treatment.
  • Defibrillation and Cardioversion – Proper use of manual defibrillators for shockable rhythms.
  • Post-Cardiac Arrest Care – Strategies for stabilizing patients after return of spontaneous circulation (ROSC).
  • Effective Team Leadership and Communication – Coordination during high-pressure emergencies.

Where can I take ACLS training?

Petrosphere Incorporated provides various training modalities including face-to-face training, blended training, which is a portion having online lecture and face-to-face classroom training, self-paced training and online instructor-led training.

Certification and Compliance:

  • Conducted by DOH, Philippine Heart Association (PHA), Red Cross, and accredited medical training providers.
  • Participants receive an ACLS Certificate, typically valid for 2 years.
  • Required for healthcare professionals working in emergency, critical care, and high-risk environments.
  • Aligned with AHA (American Heart Association) and ILCOR (International Liaison Committee on Resuscitation) guidelines.
  • Meets Philippine Department of Health (DOH) and hospital accreditation requirements for medical personnel.

Compliance Benefits:

  • Ensures healthcare providers are trained in international standards of emergency cardiac care.
  • Improves patient survival rates by equipping medical personnel with life-saving skills.
  • Supports compliance with hospital accreditation and licensing requirements for healthcare professionals.
  • Enhances emergency preparedness in hospitals, clinics, and pre-hospital settings.
  • Reduces medical errors and improves the efficiency of resuscitation teams during cardiac emergencies.

Can I use ACLS training certificate for CPD?

Definitely, yes. There are two ways to earn CPD points, it’s either through a self-directed learning or through a direct CPD points issued by PRC. Either way, you can make use of the points issued by the PRC with 24 hours ACLS training duration.
