Global webinar in celebration of World Day for Safety and Health held

In line with the global commemoration of the World Day for Safety and Health at Work, Petrosphere Incorporated hosted a landmark webinar attended by nearly 500 participants from across the Philippines, Africa and the Middle East. The event, held virtually, reinforced the critical importance of cultivating a culture of safety that extends from homes to workplaces.

The session brought together thought leaders and practitioners who shared practical insights and forward-thinking strategies for enhancing occupational health and safety.

Expert-Led Discussions on Safety Culture and Climate Resilience

Dr. Harthwell C. Capistrano, seasoned Occupational Safety and Health Consultant, opened the session with a compelling talk on “Creating a Sustainable Workplace Safety Culture.” He emphasized the importance of building safety on three foundational pillars: Technical Safety, Safety Management Systems, and Human and Organizational Factors.

“Always remember that your life matters, your dreams matter, and the lives and dreams of everyone around you matter just as much,” Dr. Capistrano stated, reinforcing the value of every individual in promoting a shared culture of safety.

Following him was Engr. Cheryl Salvan Villanueva, Assistant Professor and President of the Philippine Institute of Civil Engineers – Antique Chapter, who spoke on “Climate Resilience in Occupational Safety.” Her message was clear: safety must evolve alongside environmental realities and take into account the broader impact of one’s actions within organizations.

“This that safety Occupational Safety or safety in the workplace is very important, but as we grow and mature in our industry, we tend to understand that it’s not just about doing the job or just doing your own task in a company.Or in your organization, but it includes not only your safety, but the safety of the people you handle.”

Engr. Carmela Joice N. Padilla, Operations Manager of Petrosphere and a dedicated safety practitioner, concluded the series of talks with her presentation titled “From Home to Workplace: A Commitment to Safety for Life.”
