PSU–CE Student Leader Completes COSH Training Through Petrosphere Incorporated
Benedict J. Catalan, a former College Student Government officer of Palawan State University – Civil Engineering Department (PSU-CE), has successfully completed the Construction Occupational Safety and Health (COSH) Training under Petrosphere Incorporated. He was joined by several of his classmates who also enrolled in the COSH program, strengthening their knowledge and competencies in the field of construction safety.
Petrosphere Incorporated has long maintained a partnership with Palawan State University, consistently providing quality safety training to students from the College of Engineering, Architecture, and Technology (CEAT) and other university departments. This collaboration aims to equip future engineers and professionals with essential safety skills and knowledge that align with industry demands.
The COSH Training is a comprehensive program consisting of 5 days and 40 hours of in-depth learning. It can be delivered through face-to-face, online, or blended setups, depending on the needs of the students and the requirements of the university. This flexibility allows learners to gain valuable safety competencies regardless of their schedule or location.
Through COSH, students develop a stronger understanding of workplace safety, hazard recognition, and preventive measures empowering them to become more responsible and safety-driven individuals as they enter the construction and engineering profession.
Benedict J. Catalan Shares His COSH Training Experience
“Our 5-day COSH training was both descriptive and explanatory. The instructors provided us with a strong foundation on the importance of safety and health in construction. One of the most memorable lessons was Hazard Identification. The instructors presented different scenarios, and we had to identify the hazards that could lead to risks or major incidents. Another insightful topic was the Hierarchy of Controls—learning how to apply it in the workplace or work environment was very valuable.”
Benedict’s accomplishment reflects the growing commitment of PSU students to enhance their safety competencies and prepare for real-world industry challenges. Petrosphere Incorporated remains dedicated to supporting this mission by offering high-quality, accessible, and industry-aligned safety training programs.
Together with its partner schools, Petrosphere continues to build safer, smarter, and more responsible future professionals one training at a time.
