Role of the Quality Assurance and Testing Department
Quality Assurance
It refers to the action taken by management to ensure that manufactured assembled and
fabricated products conform to design or engineering requirements, and customer acceptance and
satisfaction.
Basic Quality Program Function
• Organization and manuals
• Engineering/product design coordination
• Evaluation and control of suppliers/vendors
• Evaluation of manufacturing (in-process and final assembly) quality
• Evaluation of special process control
• Evaluation of measuring equipment calibration system
• Sample inspection evaluation
• Evaluation of nonconforming material procedures
• Evaluation of material status/storage system
• Evaluation of error analysis and corrective action system
• Evaluation of record system
Manuals
• Be develop, whose form and content vary according to a company’s requirement.
• This manual is usually divided into two sections:
Evaluation and Control of Suppliers
• To establish and enforce such controls for internal function.
• Ability to maintain adequate quality.
• To establish good lines of communication with the company.
MANUFACTURING QUALITY (In-process and Final Assembly)
Quality assurance of items produced in-plant is accomplished by:
• Planning
• Inspection
• Process control and
• Equipment calibration
MANUFACTURING PLANNING
• Planning in advance of production ensures that product and manufacturing instructions will be
uniform throughout the process.
