Efficiency Check
What is the purpose?
Why is it necessary?
Is it the most efficient way?
How can it done more efficiently?
What is the need to do it better?
Where it should be done?
When should it be done?
Who is the best qualified to do it?
Does it meet all standards?
What else could make it more efficient?
Solutions to Improve Job Efficiency
1. The Job-Procedure Solution - This solution is provided by outlining a specific procedure that,
when followed will eliminate the deficiency or potential for downgrading incident that exists.
2. The Job Environment Solution - This solution could involve changing any part or aspect of the
total environment such as lighting layout, noise, temperature or work surfaces, to improve the
efficiency and/or utilization of people, equipment and material.
3. The Method Change Solution - This type of solution usually involves a major change in the
actual way of doing this step of the job.
4. The Reduced Frequency Solution - One of the biggest avenues to improve safety and general
overall efficiency is found in the reduction of number of times.
The Mechanics and Methods in Proper Job Analysis (PJA) and Standard Job Procedures
(SJP)
1. PROPER JOB ANALYSIS BY OBSERVATION
• Select the right worker to observe
• Explain the purpose of PJA
• Observe the job and record an initial breakdown
• Check breakdown with worker
• Record basic steps of job breakdown
• Determine all potential downgrading ingredients
• Make the efficiency check
• Develop recommended controls
• Special interest group should be contacted
• Write the Standard Job Procedure
