• Learn and understand the stressors and the kind of
stressors

• Understand the stress management strategies
Stress
Stress generally refers to two things: the
psychological perception of pressure, on one hand,
and the body’s response to it, on the other, which
involves multiple systems, from metabolisms to
muscles to memory.
Stress is similar to tension. It is the kind of
feeling when you are faced with a new, unpleasant or
threatening situation. It is the individual’s internal
ration (internal effect) to a pressure or demand.
Stress is a mental, emotional, or physical
tension or strain. It is an applied force or systems of
forces that tends to deform the body.
Stress can seriously affect one’s body and
mind. Prolonged or repeated arousal of the stress response, a characteristic of modern life, can have
harmful physical and psychological effects, including heart disease and depression.
Stressor
A stressor is an event (external cause) or situation that places a demand on a person’s body or
mind and requires one to adjust in some ways. These are situations that are experienced as a perceived
threat to one’s well-being or position in life, when the challenge of dealing with which, exceeds the
person’s available resources. Stressor is anything that causes the release of stress hormones.
